Join a Zoom meeting by using only the Zoom Meetings app without any additional software. On the web, you can do what you like.

To view the meeting invite URL shared via email or text, click on it. Email or messages will need to be sent to you to receive the invitation. In Zoom Meetings or Webinars, you are not required to be able to stream content, but you are. The meeting will continue to allow you to listen and speak, share your screen with others, and watch the webcam video from other attendees. Meeting IDs can be found on the table in the meeting. When you have manual admission requirements, you must admit every participant before your meeting can be given a start.

Double click the downloaded file to install Zoom. This will open the contents of the “zoomuslauncher. Click Continue , if prompted, to install Zoom. Reopen your email and click on the meeting link again.

This should automatically connect you to the meeting. If it doesn’t, open the Zoom app that you just downloaded, click on Join a Meeting and enter the meeting link or ID. If the host has not started the meeting yet, you’ll see a message stating “Please wait for the host to start this meeting” at the top.

Click the green Join Audio Conference by Computer button. This button should automatically appear once you join the meeting. It will connect you to the meeting with your microphone. Click the Start Video button on the bottom-left optional.

This button looks like a video camera icon in the lower-left corner of the meeting window. It will allow the other participants to view your computer’s camera. Method 2. Open the Zoom website in your internet browser. Enter the meeting ID or link into the text field. You can get the meeting ID or link from the meeting’s host. If you have an invitation email, you can also find the meeting ID here.

Click the blue Join button. This will find your meeting from your meeting ID or link, and connect you here. You’ll see a message that says “Launching” on your screen.

If the meeting doesn’t automatically launch, click the blue click here link, and then click join from your browser. Enter your display name for the meeting. Click the Your Name field, and enter a name here. You will connect to the meeting with the name you enter here. If you’re logged in, you may automatically skip this step. This will connect your audio to the meeting, and open the meeting screen in a new tab.

You can now use your microphone, and start talking with your colleagues in the meeting. Click the Start Video button on the bottom-left. This button looks like a video camera icon in the lower-left corner of your screen.

It will turn your camera on, and allow the other participants to view your video. Do I need to check my laptop camera and microphone before a meeting? If so, how? You don’t need to do that. You will be greeted with a screen that allows you to test both your microphone and camera before you join the meeting. The host has the option to enable participants to join as early as they like, even before the host joins.

More often than not though, participants will have to wait for the host to allow them into the meeting. In this instance, a host has sent you a URL link in an email invitation.

The email will look similar to the one pictured. A few minutes before the meeting is scheduled to begin, click on the URL link in blue indicated by the red arrow in the picture. See blue arrow You may be prompted to use these to sign into the meeting. After clicking on the URL link, your computer will prompt you to allow Zoom to launch on your browser. The meeting host has the option of when to allow participants to enter.

If the host has not yet allowed participants into the meeting, you will see a window informing you of this and asking you to test your audio while you wait. If you do not have a Zoom account, you will be asked to give a name that will appear in the participants list. If you already have a Zoom account, you will be able to log in at this time. It is a very good idea to go ahead and test your audio while you wait.

You should hear a dinging or bells. If not, try raising the volume of your computer and pressing the button again.

When you are done speaking press the button again. If either the speakers or the mic are not working, you may need to change the source of the sound.

You can do this by changing the selection on the drop-down menus to the right of each. If you have not tried using a headset with a mic yet, try connecting one to your computer and running the test again. Some computers have built-in microphones, but many do not.
